The new academic year at St. Michael High School, Mahim, began on a positive and energetic note on 10th June 2025, with a special assembly conducted by the students of Class X D. The theme of the day revolved around new beginnings, setting priorities, and taking pride in our school’s rich legacy, as the school steps into its 175th year of excellence in education.
The morning assembly commenced with a warm welcome and an inspiring introduction that reminded everyone of the blessings of a new year—an opportunity to grow, learn, and achieve. The students highlighted the glorious journey of St. Michael’s, founded by Portuguese missionaries and carried forward with dedication by generations of educators. The 100% SSC results for the year 2024–25 were also proudly acknowledged, filling every Michaelite with pride.
The atmosphere was made prayerful with a heartfelt morning prayer, followed by the school hymn, “Showers of Blessings,” sung with great devotion. A short motivational story titled “The Empty Jar and the Big Rocks" was narrated, teaching students a powerful life lesson on setting the right priorities. This was followed by a reflection and a thought for the day, which emphasized the value of consistency in achieving success.
The school pledge was recited with enthusiasm, and the assembly concluded with the national anthem, marking a respectful and proud start to the year.
After the assembly, students proceeded to their classrooms where they were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm by their class teachers. To create a cheerful and inviting atmosphere, the green boards were thoughtfully decorated with colourful messages and artwork. The rest of the day was spent engaging in orientation activities, classroom bonding, sharing holiday experiences, and receiving academic plans for the year ahead.
The joy of returning to school was clearly visible on every student’s face. The corridors were filled with laughter, the classrooms buzzed with energy, and the entire campus came alive once again. Students expressed happiness and excitement to be back with their friends and teachers. There was a noticeable sense of enthusiasm and pride in being part of an institution that has stood tall for 175 years, shaping lives with values and discipline.
The day ended on a positive note, setting the tone for a productive, joyful, and meaningful academic year ahead. Indeed, the first day of school was a perfect blend of reflection, pride, and new beginnings.
