The Academic Year 2025 – 2026, began with an Orientation Programme for the teachers conducted by Rev. Fr. Reuben Tellis. The session began with Sir Thomas the Vice Principal of the school welcoming the entire staff for the new academic year which was later followed Ms Lynette the Supervisor introducing the Resource Person for the day. Fr. Tellis shared his experiences and initiated the session with humour, creating a positive and engaging environment.
Fr. Tellis emphasized the importance of calmness through deep breathing by a short breathing exercise and maintaining focus and attention through a game. He highlighted the significant role teacher’s play in the lives of children. If teachers demand attention and focus from students they should have it first.
Teachers were later divided into groups after which Fr. Tellis spoke about how growth is a continuous process. He asked the teachers to prayer for their team members and greet them by hugging or a handshake showing how teachers should promote greeting and prayer in teams to build community spirit.
The session conveyed powerful messages such as: “You can be a better person or a bitter person.”- Choose to be better or be bitter through your experiences.
Fr. Tellis later spoke about anger, revenge, and hatred which is like an acid—destroying the vessel it is stored in more than the one it's poured on. He discussed forgiveness and led an activity where teachers created stories using selected pictures, emphasizing the ability to conceptualize and create vivid mental images for students.
The session concluded with a reminder that teachers are influencers. What they say or do becomes a model for students, as values are caught rather than taught.
