Bishop Barthol Barretto, a proud alumnus of St Michael’s High School, Mahim, was born on September 16, 1961, in Mahim, Mumbai, to Rosdalima and Airmina Barretto. He was ordained as a priest on April 8, 1989, and served in various pastoral and youth ministry roles—most notably as director of the Youth Section, secretary to the Archbishop, and parish priest in Borivali and other parishes.

On December 20, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay, and he received episcopal consecration on January 28, 2017. As Auxiliary Bishop, he became a dynamic leader in social communications, youth engagement, and the Charismatic Renewal movement in the Archdiocese.

On December 30, 2023, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Nashik, and he was installed in Nashik’s Cathedral of St. Anne on February 24, 2024.

Known for his pastoral zeal and motto “Love in Action,” Bishop Barthol has promoted mercy, synodality, and community outreach throughout his ministry. His inspiring journey from Mahim to leadership in the Church encourages current students and alumni of St Michael’s High School to live their faith and values with dedication and compassion.
